  1. panduan menunaikan solat berjemaah guides in performing congregation prayers JABATAN DAKWAH – MASJID KASSIM | DAKWAH DEPARTMENT – KASSIM MOSQUE
  2. Daripada Anas r.a. berkata “Adapun Nabi s.a.w. akan melihat kepada kami sebelum memulakan solat seraya berkata: Rapatkanlah (saf) dan luruskan barisan kamu sekelian”. al-Bukhari & Muslim Anas relates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would turn his face to us before he began the Prayer and he would say, “Be close together and straighten your rows” al- Bukhari and Muslim
Abu Daud Anas also reported that the Prophet would say, “Make your rows straight, for the straightening of the rows is part of the perfection of the (congregation) prayer.\” Abu Daud
1) Forming straight lines or rows & not leaving gaps in it. Toes pointing to the Qibla direction with feet touching one’s feet standing next to him
  5. RIGHT WRONG Feet touching one’s feet standing Leaving gaps between lines next to him
2) The followers should stand behind the Imam in a balanced way, equally on the right and left, keeping him in the middle in front.
  7. Kesimpulan  Barisan saf mestilah lurus.  Setiap individu mestilah berdiri rapat dengan bahu menyentuh bahu saudara bersebelahan.  Ibu jari kaki diarahkan menghadap kiblat.
  8. Conclusion  The lines should be straight.  Each person standing close to another -shoulder to shoulder.  Toes pointing to the Qibla direction  As long as there is a gap in anyone line, that spot should be filled before making a new line.  It ‘s undesirable or Makruh for a person to stand alone in a single line or row.  Formation of new line should start from the centre, not corners of both sides.
  9. Anas r.a. meriwayatkan bahawa Rasulullah s.a.w. telah bersabda “Wahai manusia! Ahmad & Muslim
  10. Abu Hurairah r.a. meriwayatkan bahawa Nabi s.a.w. telah bersabda “Apakah kamu tidak takut sekiranya kamu mengangkat kepala sebelum imam (lalu) Allah menukarkan kepalamu kepada kepala keldai?”. Diriwayatkan oleh Jamaah
  11. Anas reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “O people, I am your imam, so do not precede me in ruku` or in sujud or in qiyam or in sitting or in finishing” Ahmad and Muslim
  12. Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Do you not fear that if you raise your head before the imam Allah may change your head into that of a donkey!” (reported by the group).
3) Not “racing” with the Imam, or moving with or before him
Conclusion  It is obligatory to follow the imam while performing behind him as the imam is selected to be followed.
  15. “Sehinggalah tatkala Nabi s.a.w. berada pada sujud (terakhir) yang ada padanya taslim (salam), baginda s.a.w. mengeluarkan kakinya (tidak duduk di atas kakinya) dan duduk di atas sebelah kirinya bersimpuh (Tawaruk)”. al-Bukhari & ibn Hibban
  16. “… until the Prophet approached the final prostration (sujud) that comprises salam, he sits with his left hip resting upon the ground, and with both his feet on his right- side. He places his left foot beneath his right shin”. al-Bukhari & ibn Hibban
  17. Cara duduk pada tahiyat Types of sitting position during tahiyat Tahiyat Awal Tahiyat Akhir The First Tahiyat The Final Tahiyat
  19. 4) According to the schools of Maliki, Syafi’i & Hanbali, it’s an act of sunnah to sit in the position of tawaruk during the last tahiyat. This means tawaruk is only a sunnah (and not an obligatory) and to be practiced best when the situation permits. A Muslim should refrain from sitting in tawaruk if it may causes discomfort or hurting one sitting next to you.
  21. Conclusion  Tawaruk is an advocated practice of sunnah and could be compromised (advisable) if situation does not permit e.g. lack of space.
  23. Narrated by ‘Aishah that the Prophet prayed in a Khamisa (a square garment) having marks. During the prayer, he looked at its marks. So when he finished the prayer he said, “Take this Khamisa of mine to Abu Jahm and get me his Inbijaniya (a woolen garment without marks) as it (the Khamisa) has diverted my attention from the prayer”. al-Bukhari & Ahmad
The Messenger of Allah always have due attention whilst performing prayer and avoided any form of distractions that could compromise his ritual act.
  26. 5) Please assure that mobile phones are switched to silent mode. “If you happened to carry your cell phone to the Prayer hall and it rang, you must switch it off immediately. By failing to do so, you are not only distracting yourself but also everyone else in the congregation”. – Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Canada.
6) You do not recite any verses, tasbih, supplications and zikir during prayer in such a way that can be heard by the Imam or others as these will cause distraction.
  29. 7) You do not wear clothing that could attract attention and cause distraction such as: – dirty and smelly shirt, trouser or socks, – t-shirts with pictures of living creations printed on it, – t-shirts with wordings or remarks reflecting negativity, offensiveness or vulgarity printed on it.
8) You do not exhibit movements or behaviors that attract others’ attention such as repetition of saying and performing the act of Takbirat al-Ihram due to being in doubt.
  32. Conclusion  It is undesirable (makruh) to cause distraction to others due to our actions and behaviors while performing prayer (intentionally or unintentionally) as it compromises the quality of our ritual and diminish the rewards of performing congregation prayer.
